Hey,

I have come across the following article Eve Offline :

The most recent eve.orb.at Scam revealed

Just recently there have been a a number of players saying click this http://eve.orb.at/?634966275 in many of the channels both local at Oursulaert, Jita, Recruitment Channel and most probably hosts more. This is an information gathering exercise and if you allow the site to be trusted. That site is then able to gather information from your character.

Lets take the scenario and assume you have an accountant role. You have been onto that site for some reason or other and have given away your location or at least where you are operating. Players that have access to your character info could well track you down and hold you and your ship to ransom because you have access to the corporation wallet.

If you are a pirate and wanted to keep your location secret as you had a high bounty, again this information can locate you and a mercenary force could track you down. In my mind this is an underhand tactic.

To see the information that can be gathered in its full glory, you can either look at a screen dump here or you can see what is revealed by accessing this link and trusting this site. None of this information is stored anywhere, and if you use this link, Remember to remove the trust afterwards!

Make sure to watch for these links. If it pops up, do not trust the site. Last thing we need is some random roaming gang to come over and ransom us.

You can avoid some issues with stuff like this by changing your API key randomly but that means reloading it on to eve mon and any other app that needs it to run.

Watch out for link scam going on in Eve Empty Older Scams within Eve

I read about these scams well before I started playing. One involved a 1 year corporate espionage takeover and the other involved a ponzy scheme. I think people should realize that pretty much anything goes within the confines of the sandbox known as Eve. I understand now that trust and reputation are really the most expensive commodities to come by within the world of Eve.

  1. 700 billion ISK Scam
  2. Espionage
  3. Ponzy Scheme
  4. Scams in General in MMO's
